Club puts on a show with GB2RHS
GB2HS, the club's first station at the Honley Show, proved a success with a total of 170 contacts on HF and VHF. Richard M0RBG and Darren G0BWB were there first thing to set up the tent, rig and G5RV and they were joined by Ian M0IAA, Brian G0BFJ, Lew G4HKY, Robert M0PIE and George M3VBP. Visitors included Robert G8BUN, his wife Mary M3XMW and Barry G4TML who was a show steward. 80 metres was quiet but 40m produced many inter-G QSOs. On two metres, Robert M0PIE worked stations from Stockton to Gainsborough. Battery problems meant that the new IC-706 could be used for only a short while but a sub was in hand in the form of Ian's FT-897. Lew's FT-857 and five-element yagi were used for VHF.Committe approve work on new tower
On Wed night the committee approved the welding work and the expenditure on the concrete for the base of the tower-mast The painting session was defeated by the weather, but is to be re-arranged when the forecast is more reliable.
Welcome...
The Denby Dale Amateur Radio Society was founded nearly 40 years ago at the Pie Hall in Denby Dale - an address famous since 1788 for record-breaking pies. Meetings are held there in a large first-floor room or in the main hall at ground level, which has good access for the disabled.
We meet on the first and third Wednesdays in the month from 7.30pm for an 8pm start. On the Wednesdays when we don't meet, we often gather on the air at 8pm on 145.575MHz. We also use that frequency for the weekly club net on Sunday at 10.30am. We compete in contests, arrange special event stations and offer training courses for all three levels of the amateur radio licence.
